I try to live my life with as friendly a footprint on the planet as I can. To the point where a workmate once said to me “Most people “talk” about being environmentally friendly but you actually live your life the way people talk about it.” She then went on to list a myriad of things from consistent use of glass or metal for lunches at work, the type of food we eat and our home life. A simple house in the hinterland of Noosa, a considerable vegetable garden where we are moving to more permacultural practices and extending the gardens into food forests and beyond.
Since 2009, experience collected from life, renovations and curiosity led me to start creating Highly Customised” Downhill racing skateboard decks. “Skatement Speedboards” The boards were bespoke, one-off creations, ridden around the world by some of Australia’s best Downhill Skateboarders. The skate decks were made from local Queensland grown and cut timber veneers and carefully researched and collected fibreglass or carbon cloth and epoxy resins.
In 2014 I turned the skills developed making the skate decks to my original passion which was surfing.
From there the skateboard creation began to lessen and the focus on making surfboards has grown exponentially. Throughout the board building journey there has been a focus on balancing environmental impact, longevity and performance of the surfboards.

“THERE IS NO POINT MAKING A BOARD FROM RUBBISH OR ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY MATERIALS IF THE BOARD DOES NOT PERFORM”
